Employer - Safe Work Organizer 2005
With the participation of Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Andrzej Lepper, a ceremony was held on 28 November in the Senate building of the Republic of Poland to present awards and distinctions of the Chief Labour Inspector to the winners of the twelfth edition of the ‘Employer - Organiser of Safe Work’ competition.

The aim of the competition, which has been organised since 1994, is to promote best practice in occupational safety and protection and to inspire employers to create safe workplaces. The award of the Chief Labour Inspector recognises entrepreneurs who not only comply with labour law and ensure safe employment conditions, but also show initiative in this field and can be an example for others. The criteria for companies entering the competition are not easy to meet for many employers. Therefore, it is safe to say that those who participate are among the national economic elite.
More than 200 entrepreneurs from across the country took part in this year's competition. Sixty-five qualified for the finals, and 12 awards and 13 distinctions were given to employers who made the most effective contribution to improving workplace safety standards.
Poland's presence in the European Union enforces the need for our companies to adapt to European standards, making them increasingly competitive with foreign companies,’ said Anna Hintz, Chief Labour Inspector, in congratulating the winners. - The implementation of the most effective management systems and the use of modern technologies not only helps to optimise economic performance, but also makes the workplace safer and healthier for workers. The National Labour Inspectorate is paying more and more attention to these relations in its preventive activities.
A letter from the President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski, was read out by his advisor Jerzy Mackiewicz, who also presented the laureates with personal letters of congratulations. The President drew attention to the growing number of employers in our country creating safe, hygienic and ergonomic working conditions. This testifies to the changing mentality of entrepreneurs increasingly combining care for working conditions with the economic success of the company. The President of the Republic of Poland thanked the labour inspectorate for popularising knowledge about work safety and the rights of the employed.
A letter of congratulations and thanks for contributing to the improvem ent of work safety in our country was addressed to Anna Hintz by the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Jurek. ‘A well-managed company,’ wrote the Speaker, ’is one that not only focuses on economic trends, but also builds its prestige and gains a reputation as a company that is safe and concerned about the health of its employees.
In turn, Deputy Speaker Andrzej Lepper, who oversees the State Labour Inspectorate on behalf of the Presidium of the Sejm, in an occasional speech pointed to the importance of the development of entrepreneurship and safe working conditions in Poland.
